20” x 24” Zildjian Gong Sheet [2018] discontinued

An original Zildjian Gong Sheet, measuring 20” x 24” (51 x 61cm). Made from copper, with a large formed dome in the centre. And yes, it is every bit as weird and wonderful as it looks.

Hit it with a mallet and it produces a dark, trashy, explosive gong effect with a broad metallic spread and plenty of sustain. Not really a cymbal, not really a traditional gong, but very definitely a Zildjian.

These were made for drummers and percussionists looking for sounds outside the normal cymbal vocabulary. Great for theatre, soundtrack work, experimental percussion, effects or simply for anyone who thinks a normal round cymbal is a little too predictable.

The sheet still carries its original Zildjian logos and GONG SHEET 20”/51cm x 24”/61cm designation. The two suspension holes at the top allow it to hang freely so the complete sheet can resonate.

Now discontinued and becoming increasingly difficult to find.

Used condition with scratches, playing marks and discoloration, exactly as pictured. No cracks.

Part percussion instrument, part sound effect and part piece of Zildjian weirdness.
