20” A Zildjian Ride Reworked by Silvio Morger [2025] 1878g
A vintage American classic, completely transformed by Swiss jazz drummer and independent cymbal maker Silvio Morger.
Originally purchased from our dear colleague Peter Doest, this 20” A Zildjian started life as a considerably heavier ride before being professionally reworked by Morger in August 2025.
And that makes this cymbal rather special.
Based in Cologne, Morger is an established modern jazz drummer and highly regarded independent cymbal craftsman. He normally concentrates on creating his own instruments, making a reworked vintage Zildjian like this an unusual find.
Now weighing just 1878g, this Avedis features extensive additional lathing, a beautifully refined profile and a remarkably small bell, reminiscent of Zildjian’s original Mini Cup Ride design.
The transformation has created an intriguing lightweight instrument with considerable potential for expressive jazz playing.
• Size: 20” / 51 cm
• Brand: Avedis Zildjian
• Origin: USA
• Reworked by: Silvio Morger, Cologne
• Reworking date: August 2025
• Weight: 1878g
• Bell: Small, Mini Cup style
• Finish: Extensively re-lathed
• Character: Lightweight, bright, expressive and responsive
• Condition: Good, professionally reworked
• Provenance: Previously owned by Peter Doest
The original factory stamp disappeared during the reworking process, so the exact production year and original model cannot be confirmed.
What makes this cymbal particularly appealing is the combination of vintage American bronze and the individual craftsmanship of a contemporary European cymbal maker.
A rare opportunity to acquire a Silvio Morger rework rather than one of his own original creations.
Not just another old Avedis. A second life, shaped by a different pair of hands.
