26” Ludwig Keystone Drum Kit [1968] 4p

A rare vintage Ludwig Keystone shell pack featuring the highly sought-after 26” bass drum. Originally owned by Frans Smit, drummer with Maggie MacNeal and former Brainbox member, this genuine player’s kit combines proven musical history with the unmistakable sound of a late-1960s Ludwig. Frans Smit became Maggie MacNeal’s drummer and later her husband after she launched her solo career in 1975.

• Rack tom: 13”
• Hybrid tom: 14” × 11”, professionally shortened from the original 14” × 14” floor tom. Can be used either as a compact floor tom or as a large rack tom in the classic Bonham style.
• Floor tom: 16”
• Era: Keystone badge [1968]
• Finish: Delmar Blue Sparkle wrap, professionally installed by Thijs van der Heijde
• Shell interiors: Original clear maple/poplar with factory date stamps
• Bearing edges: Original
• Sound: Huge, warm and open with the unmistakable late-60s Ludwig punch

The original 14” × 14” floor tom was professionally shortened to 14” × 11”, creating a versatile hybrid drum that works equally well as a compact floor tom or as a large rack tom. Inspired by the oversized Bonham-style setup, it offers exceptional flexibility while retaining the unmistakable vintage Ludwig character.

The original 16” floor tom remains an authentic Ludwig shell with its factory interior and date stamp intact. During the professional Delmar re-wrap, the air vent was replaced, preventing the original Keystone badge from being reinstalled. Fitted with Pearl hoops, it remains a fully functional and great-sounding part of this unique player’s kit.
