18” Zilco by AZCO Canada [1968–1979] 1750g
A very cool and often overlooked piece of Zildjian history.
This 18” Zilco was made in Canada by AZCO — the Avedis Zildjian Company — at the Meductic, New Brunswick factory established by the Zildjian family in 1968.
And that factory has quite a story. Besides Zilco cymbals, it would later produce Canadian A. Zildjians and the legendary Canadian K’s. After Robert Zildjian split from the family company, the Meductic factory became the birthplace of Sabian.
At 1750g, this is a versatile vintage 18” with plenty of body, sitting nicely in crash/ride territory. Fine traditional lathing, small bell, beautiful aged patina and the distinctive ZILCO BY AZCO CANADA stamp.
A fascinating pre-Sabian Canadian Zildjian-family cymbal from one of the most important factories in modern cymbal history.
No cracks, small keyhole. Very nice vintage condition.
