18” Remo RotoTom Second Generation Early Die-Cast [1970s]
An exceptionally rare early 18” Remo RotoTom — the largest classic RotoTom size and a fascinating piece of early Remo history.
Unlike the later mass-produced chrome and black RotoToms, this early Second Generation example features the distinctive raw, unplated die-cast aluminium spider. The casting is heavier and more rounded, with noticeably wider spacing between the inner and outer rings — characteristic details of these early freestanding RotoToms.
The very first RotoToms evolved from Remo practice-pad components mounted to a wooden board. This represents the next development: the early freestanding die-cast generation that preceded the familiar chrome-plated production models.
