A genuine Zildjian Sound Lab Prototype, “17” Special Dry Projection cr” , weighing only 1160g.

And this is where it gets interesting: only one was made in this exact configuration. Not a discontinued production cymbal, not a limited run, but a true one-off from Zildjian’s Sound Lab.

That alone makes it a very cool piece of Zildjian history and a seriously rare cymbal for the collector.

But it’s certainly not just something to put on the wall.

The Special Dry concept gives it that dark, earthy and slightly trashy character, while the Projection side adds some extra presence and cut. At only 1160g it opens very easily: quick response, plenty of character and a relatively short decay.

Visually it’s just as interesting. Heavy, irregular hammering, pronounced lathing, the SOUND LAB PROTOTYPE marking and, best of all, Zildjian’s handwritten model designation still clearly visible.

And condition matters with something this rare: this one is near mint. Very little use, no cracks, no keyhole and no structural issues.
