14” Remo RotoTom Second Generation Early Die-Cast [1970s]

A rare early-generation 14” Remo RotoTom, featuring the distinctive unplated die-cast aluminium construction that predates the familiar mass-produced chrome and black versions.

This early design is immediately recognizable by its raw, matte cast-aluminium spider, heavier rounded outer frame and the noticeably wider spacing between the inner and outer rings. These construction details distinguish it from the later, smoother chrome-plated RotoToms that became the standard production model.

Historically, the very first RotoToms evolved from Remo practice-pad components and were mounted to a wooden board. This example represents the following development: the early freestanding die-cast generation, generally referred to by collectors as the Second Generation RotoTom.
